Dyeing to Print
with
 Gunnel Hag

Our speaker for the November meeting will be Gunnel Hag who has been a guest speaker at our meetings in the past.  She will be entertaining us with her power point lecture - “Dyeing to Print“ which is an introduction to the magic of colour and pattern in printed and dyed fabrics from around the world.  Gunnel will compare historical dyed and printed fabrics with contemporary fabrics with a view to understanding the techniques used in producing these exquisite textiles and to get a glimpse of where today’s patterns and colours originate - how they were created and are still being produced to this day.

Gunnel studied textile design in Sweden and England.  Her studio, Trees Textile Designers and Printers in Toronto produces fabrics for film and theatre productions.  She has taught in the Textile Studio at Sheridan College for 12 years, been a visiting lecturer at the National Institute of Design in Ahmedabad, India and teaches workshops and gives lectures internationally.

You can find lots more about Gunnel on her website - www.colourvie.com

Our virtual vendor for this meeting is Oh Look, Fabric!  in Milton https://www.ohlookfabric.com/
