We are delighted to have Tina Craig join us from Rhode Island, USA, for our June meeting! Tina will present her lecture, EPP (English Paper Piecing) vs FPP (Foundation Paper Piecing) : The Showdown. In the presentation, Tina will give us an overview of each technique followed by thirty quilts illustrating the versatility of both techniques.
Tina Craig has been quilting since 1990 and tries to challenge herself to learn something new with every quilt. She specializes in precision piecing (foundation paper piecing and English paper piecing) and domestic machine quilting. When she moved to a seaside town in southern Rhode Island in 1997, Seaside Stitches was born.

Tina is a member of the Modern Quilt Guild and three local guilds, serving as Co-Vice President of Ninigret Quilters. Her quilts have been awarded Best in Show at three local shows and her work has been exhibited regionally and nationally.
Tina lives in southern Rhode Island with her very supportive husband Bill who writes and records music in his spare time. They enjoy hiking, birding, and traveling to visit their two adult children who live too far away with their lovely spouses, and two adorable grandsons.

Gatherings are In-Person on the First Wednesday of the Month
Gatherings will resume in September
Gatherings is a new programme offered by the WCQG. This new monthly in-person programme was created to enable members to meet, sew, socialize and learn. From October to June, from 10:30 am to 3:30 pm, on the first Wednesday of the month, there will be space for members who wish to sew. There will be an opportunity to pick up and deliver supplies and projects to SMILE and PAL and other outreach projects. The library will be open to take out and return library books. There will be an opportunity to participate in the UFO Challenge and Strippers Club.
* Please note that the library will be open from 10:30 am until 2:00 pm.

In addition, there will be a Featured Member sharing works and/or techniques, enabling members to enhance their quilting talents. For the schedule of Featured Members click here.

Gatherings is a new initiative for WCQG members, so any and all feedback and suggestions are welcome.

For the safety of the membership, Gatherings will adhere to health and safety guidelines established by the Region of Waterloo and the WCQG Executive.
At this time proof of vaccination and masking are required to enter the room for any purpose. We will continue to monitor Covid health guidelines and numbers, but given the age demographic of our membership we are taking these current extra precautions.

Open Sewing Days
Our Open Sewing Times for members only, are continuing each* Monday afternoon from 2 to 4 pm. We continue to share social time, great conversations and laughter – all things that are so good for the soul right now. Come when you can, leave when you wish. We are enjoying a great time together. The links are in the weekly updates.
There will also be monthly Saturday Open Sewing Day every month.

Sewing Together, But Apart
Our Sewing Together, But Apart Days provide an entire day of sewing activities, including sharing tips and strategies, socializing as well as having guest speakers join us for part of the day. To help cover some of the cost of the guest speakers, a charge of $10.00 is included for the afternoon guest speaker. With the possibilities Zoom provides, we are able to access guest speakers from near and far. We look forward to having you join us. Participants are invited to come for all or part of the day. This is event is open to members of the WCQG only. There is no limit to the number of participants.
