Reaching Out to the Community
We are proud of our community outreach programs, including our guild-sponsored Smile Quilts, Memory Quilts and Touch Quilts. Volunteers coordinate these projects and occasionally hold quilting bees and/or assemble kits for work at home. The quilting bees are usually held at the Mannheim Community Cenre. Click Mannheim Community Centre for directions.
For information about these special projects click on the mini quilts by their names. If you would like to contact any of the organizers, you will find their contact information in our Members' Handbook or email the guild at wcqg@wcquiltersguild.on.ca. Your message will be forwarded to the appropriate person.

For several years guild members have made placemats for our local Meals on Wheels. Often those placemats are reversible, celebrating a special holiday or two.
Many members also make and donate quilts to other worthy charities dear to their own hearts. Often a member will organize a group project, such as the Postcard Quilt (shown below) organized by Renske Helmuth. It was donated to the Ontario Mennonite Relief Sale and was auctioned for $7200!

The Quilt and Project Linus are additional causes in which guild members often participate.
The guild and its members are always open to supporting charitable organizations. To reach us please go to our Contact Us page. |
