Ongoing Each Tuesday

"Arc Quilters" meets every Tuesday at the Adult Recreation Centre at King and John Streets in Waterloo, from 9 - 2. They are happy to welcome anyone who would like to quilt with them. They quilt tops which are brought to them by members of the public. Anyone interested in quilting, or in having a quilt top hand quilted, can drop in at the Centre any Tuesday morning, or contact Jean Munro at ijmunro@kw.igs.net for more information.

 

Ongoing through Labour Day in Cambridge

"Wee Quilt" Challenge at McDougall Cottage,  89 Grand Ave. South is showcasing its strong Scottish heritage by hosting is eighth annual "Wee" Quilt Challenge, Celtic Connections. This mini-challenge invited quilters from all parts of Canada (...and of course, Scotland) to submit a wee quilted creation no larger than 24" x 24".

Meet the talented artists at a special Scottish tea held in their honour. Harpist Barbara Hull sets the mood. From 4-6 p.m. Awards at 4:30. Donations greatly appreciated.

Quilts in My Garden

Meaford Museum, 111 Bayfield Street, Meaford. Come to Meaford, a gem along Georgian Bay, and enjoy three days of quilting excitement. A ‘free motion quilting’ workshop as well as information seminars on Japanese quilting and fabric conservation will lead into a day of enjoying scenic gardens and magnificent quilts. Tour some of Meaford’s most beautiful gardens while seeing exqui- site quilts in each garden. In addition, visitors will enjoy demonstrations, vendors and bou- tiques geared to gardening and quilting. Runaway Quilters’ Guild and Meaford Museum. October 8 & 9, 2010 in Paris

Brant Heritage Quilters Guild presents Quilts of Our Times at the Paris Fairgrounds. Every four years the guild brings this event to the public, showing over 100 quilts that have never been on display before along with a variety of quilted pieces including fashions, wall quilts, miniatures and other items. There will also be vendors, tea room, boutique of quilted items, demonstrations and an opportunity to win door prizes from show sponsors and local businesses, as well as lucky draws for some extraordinary items.

Admission is just $5.00.

The Canadian Machine Quilters Association is pleased to offer our third workshop in our series sposored by the Ontario Arts Council.  Carol Cunningham is a quilt artist living in Beamsville, Ontario. She is an expert in feathers and heirloom quilting.

Ongoing Exhibits at the Greenwood Gallery

The Greenwood Gallery is currently accepting submissions. Proposals from individuals and groups are reviewed on an ongoing basis for monthly exhibits. A commercial gallery working on a low commission basis, Greenwood Gallery exhibits work from emerging to established artists. They seek to maintain a relationship with the tradition of quilting while exploring new avenues in textile art.

    * Please include with your submission: 10 images of work in slide, CD, or photo format
    * A statement of intent
